MIXED CUP 2014

West Hove retained their 'mixed' title away from home again at Brighton and Hove. However their victory was only secured after a countback of holes up 6-4 over the home team.
The Plate was even closer with Dyke pair Sophie Kennard and Nev Hudson going to 'sudden death' play off with father and daughter Mark and Fenella Buss from East Brighton. Dyke pair won with a great birdie on first hole.
Winning West Hove team was Dave Goldsmith & Julie Macadam, Grace Shepherd & Jeff Rhodes, Megan Bibby & Tony Humphrey, Jan Seabrook & Peter Rodger, Jill Corbett and Tim Ingram. Pictured below:-

SENIOR CUP 2014

Host club, West Hove played Dyke in the final after Dyke squad had close shave in the morning winning on count back from East Brighton.
East Brighton won the Plate event 3-2 over Brighton and Hove.
The final was a close match with a long putt on very last green from Ben Cooper securing victory for Dyke GC over West Hove 3.5-1.5.

Captains' Putter 2014

At West Hove-a severe electric storm curtailed the event to 13 holes.
The Putter was won by Brighton and Hove's squad of Chris Pett, Eddie Hamilton, Peter Ward, Pat Coghlan, Peter Buckingham led by this years skipper Colin Crookes. It was a close finish with the last card from Eddie Hamilton giving them the victory from West Hove by 1 single point.
The Presidents' Salver was retained by David Abercrombie. 
Professionals Cup and prize went to home pro Graeme Crompton ----and the Secretaries Trophy was won by Brian Hazelgrove (standing in for Gary Salt) of West Hove.

CHAMPIONSHIPS 2014

Brighton and Hove hosted this event and presented a course in fine condition. To make things even better, the sun shone all day and wind was at a minimum.
The Ladies Championship was won by JO ASHWORTH of the home club with scores of 84-85 Total 169 from Wendy Francis (East Brighton) on 179.
The JUNIOR champion for 2014 is 4 handicapper GEORGE GODDARD of West Hove who shot gross scores of 78-73 Total 151 to take the Trophy from 2nd place Ben Cummings of East Brighton.
PAUL PLANT of The Dyke GC won the mens' event yet again with morning score of 70 followed by fine second round of 68 Total 138---with last year's winner Simon Tiplady (B&H) running up with 141.
The team trophy went to The Dyke squad of Neil Mason, Andy Larkin, Paul Plant and Jamie Brough with a 4 man total of 577 from 2nd place Brighton and Hove with 606.

WENTWORTH SMITH 2014

 West Hove's course supplied  sunny conditions, but with some very tough rough and semi-rough after recent warm weather. 180 players competed from the 4 clubs.

Neville Hudson (Dyke GC) won the Nett Trophy with 38 points from Tony Jeffcoat (West Hove 38 ocb) with Jim Millward (Brighton and Hove 37) in 3rd place.

Best Gross Trophy winner was Jason Fowler of East Brighton GC 76 gross, from P Plant and P Sayers (both Dyke) with 77.

The Team Shield was retained by Dyke GC with scores from M Colburn 33, M Prothero 33, P Sayers 35, K Owen 35 and N Hudson 38 for best 5 total of 174 from West Hove on 170, and in 3rd were Brighton and Hove on 169 (best 5 from each club to count)

JUNIOR CUP 2014

HOME TEAM WIN AGAIN
Fine May weather prevailed all day at The Dyke Golf Club for the Junior Cup (Sunday May 18th) for players 14 handicap and above.
Morning matches saw Dyke and Brighton and Hove through to the final.
The Plate competition was won by East Brighton defeating West Hove 3 matches to 2.
In the Cup Final, home advantage was too strong for Brighton and Hove's team and The Dyke came through champions 4 matches to 1 to retain the Trophy they won last year at B&H.

INTERMEDIATE CUP 2014

EARLY SUCCESS FOR EAST BRIGHTON

The first event of the year, Intermediate Cup was held at East Brighton on May 4th in superb sunny weather.
The semi-final matches brought wins for East Brighton and The Dyke.
So---after lunch The Plate was contested between West Hove and Brighton and Hove with West Hove coming out winners 3.5-1.5. Team skipper Tim Ingram collected the trophy (picture below)
The final was a close fought match with Toby Hill and Phil Young nearly making a great come-back from 5 down. However, the local club's home advantage was too strong and East Brighton scraped home 3-2.
